InsideJapan Tours relaunching itineraries in July: Travel Weekly
Group tour specialist InsideJapan Tours is gearing up to relaunch its first tours in the country as part of Japan’s easing of pandemic restrictions.
The first of InsideJapan’s tours will launch on July 2 with a 13-night Japan Unmasked itinerary, along with that itinerary’s second departure on July 23, followed by a 10-night HyperJapan J-Pop & Go tour that is slated to depart on July 18. Both tours, which can accommodate up to 14 people, visit the main sights of Toyko, Kyoto and Hiroshima, but the routes are carried out differently.
Japan Unmasked takes guests through the Japanese Alps with more traditional elements incorporated into the itinerary, including stays at a ryokan guest house and at a family-run bed-and-breakfast-style minshuku.
The HyperJapan J-Pop & Go itinerary mixes the lively elements of Japan’s kitsch culture, featuring visits to video game arcades and taking in kawaii street fashions, while also incorporating more traditional highlights such as visiting botanical gardens and hot spring baths.
The company will be among the first tour operators to restart operations under Japan’s latest reopening guidelines that permit only Japan-based tour companies to host pre-packaged tours for international groups. The new guidelines went into effect on June 10.
It is unclear when tour companies based outside of Japan will be allowed to host tours in the country.
InsideJapan is headquartered in the U.K. but has offices all over the world, including an office in Tokyo.
