Pharrell Williams and David Grutman to open Paradise Island hotel
Following their opening of The Goodtime Hotel in Miami Beach in 2021, musician Pharrell Williams and David Grutman of Groot Hospitality will partner on another project — a hotel on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.
To be called Somewhere Else, the 400-room oceanfront resort is scheduled to open in 2024. The development is in partnership with Atlantis Paradise Island. The resort will occupy the current site of The Beach at Atlantis.
The property motif will follow a theme of “tropical modernism,” according to a news release. Shawn Sullivan of Rockwell Group is the lead designer.
Grutman, who has developed several dining and entertainment concepts through Miami-based Groot Hospitality, and Williams, known for his 2013 smash hit “Happy” and other musical projects, have also collaborated on the Miami restaurant Swan.
Atlantis Paradise Island consists of multiple properties offering different accommodation styles and is centered around Aquaventure, a 141-acre waterpark. The complex also includes the 14-acre marine mammal habitat Dolphin Cay, an 18-hole golf course, Atlantis Casino and restaurants from chefs Jose Andres, Todd English and Nobu Matsuhisa.
