Playa says four Dominican Republic resorts are closed to repair hurricane damage: Travel Weekly
The Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, Sanctuary Cap Cana and Hilton La Romana resorts in the Dominican Republic have temporarily closed, with operator Playa Hotels & Resorts citing “necessary cleanup and repair work as a result of Hurricane Fiona.”
The properties are expected to reopen in November and December.
The company’s latest updates indicate that the Hilton La Romana will be the first to reopen, with the resort’s family section to resume operations on Nov. 1 and the adults-only section to reopen on Nov. 20.
The Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is expected to reopen Nov. 15, and sister property Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana on Dec. 6. The Sanctuary Cap Cana is expected to welcome back guests on Dec. 20.
On its website, Playa has posted a notice urging impacted guests to contact their tour operator, travel professional or resort to cancel and/or rebook. Guests who choose to cancel will be refunded and all cancelation fees will be waived.
If rebooking, guests are being provided options to either change their reservation dates or keep their dates and relocate to an alternative resort, subject to availability.
