Travello domestic travel vouchers: How young people can score $50 discounts
Young Aussies are being offered $50 travel vouchers to use on domestic experiences around Australia in the latest bid to get more people holidaying at home.
The offer, from travel experience provider Travello, is available to any Australian aged between 18 and 35. The voucher initiative will provide a $30 million boost to the nation’s struggling tourism sector which has been decimated by lockdowns and border closures caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
More than 600,000 vouchers, Travello chief executive Ryan Hanly said the vouchers can be used on over 1000 experiences available on the brand’s website.

“When Australians travel overseas they fill their days with wine tours and walking tours, or visiting castles … but what we have seen here is people might book a trip to Noosa and spend the day at the beach or beside the pool – but people aren’t booking surfing lessons, for example,” Mr Hanly toldNews Corp Australia.
Mr Hanly said he expected the Holiday Cash Giveaway would put up to $100 million back into tourism providers which would then positively impact the community.
The vouchers can be used on any experience sold through the Travello site.
The giveaway come after some state governments tried to tempt holiday-makers into tourist destinations with similar incentives.

Just last week, the NSW government announced it would be extending the state’s Dine and Discovery voucher after learning thousands of vouchers had gone unclaimed just weeks before they were due to expire.
The vouchers are accessible through the Service NSW app and provide all residents with $100 each, split into four $25 vouchers – two for dining and two for discovery.
They were due to expire on June 30 but the deadline has now been extended until the end of July, covering the upcoming school holiday period in a welcome boost for parents.
Victoria had their own voucher initiative, where thousands of residents were offered $200 regional travel vouchers. In Queensland, residents were also offered thousands of $100 travel vouchers.
Speaking to 7 News,Tourism and Transport Forum chief executive Margy Osmond welcomed Travello’s voucher program, adding it was ‘really clever’ to target a demographic that is usually reluctant to travel within Australia.

“If they can get these people to think differently about holidays in Australia, then that’s a good thing,” Ms Osmond said.
