Universal Orlando is rolling out a new parade for Mardi Gras celebration

The good times will roll at Universal Orlando from Feb. 4 to April 16, when the Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval celebration returns to the Universal Studios Florida park.

This year will feature concerts by Patti Labelle, the Goo Goo Dolls and Sean Paul. Concerts will take place on select Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights through March 5 at the Music Plaza stage in Universal Studios Florida.

The celebration’s parade, “Mythical Realms of Mardi Gras,” is new. It will feature creatures like dragons, phoenixes and unicorns “with a Mardi Gras twist,” Universal said. The parade will have six new floats joining its traditional lineup, including the Riverboat and King Gator floats.

More than 50 tasting-size items from global Carnaval celebrations will be available at kiosks around the park. Additionally, for the first time, Universal’s other parks — Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay — will serve a limited selection of Mardi Gras-themed food.

The Mardi Gras Tribute Store will sell merchandise and treats themed to the celebration.
Special festivities will also be held at Universal CityWalk and the resort’s hotels.
