Vail Resorts requiring proof of vaccination for some dining

For the upcoming ski season, Vail Resorts will do away with some of last year’s Covid-related restrictions while adding new vaccination requirements.

New for this year, Vail will require guests ages 12 and older to provide proof of vaccination in order to eat at on-mountain cafeteria-style restaurants.

“Vail Resorts believes the vaccine requirement is important for the protection of its guests and employees, given the number of people using these facilities and the fact that guests will not be wearing face coverings while eating and drinking,” Vail Resorts said. “This is currently the only part of the resort experience that will require proof of vaccination, unless required by local public health.”

The company will also continue its policy from the 2020-21 ski season of requiring customers at many on-mountain restaurants to make a dining reservation. However, Vail noted that dining capacity will be significantly higher than last year.

Vail also said that all employees will be required to be vaccinated this ski season.

Vail’s 34 North American ski areas won’t have reservation systems this year, restoring the pre-pandemic status quo, and lifts and gondolas will be loaded at normal capacity.

The company will also do away with requirements for outdoor face coverings, including in lift lines, on lifts and inside gondolas. However, indoor mask requirements will stay in place, including in restaurants, lodging properties, restrooms, retail and rental locations, and on buses.

Vail Resorts plans to open its ski season in October at Keystone in Colorado. Ten more combined openings are scheduled on Nov. 12 and Nov. 19.
