The Resilient Lady, Virgin Voyages’ third ship, will feature a Latina mermaid on its bow.<\/p>\n
The design was created by oil painter and muralist Jodie Herrera, a New Mexico native. Virgin Voyages described the mermaid as having “a fiery red tale and resolute stance inspired by Rosie the Riveter.”<\/p>\n
“Our newest mermaid, and the exceptional artist behind her, represent strength and resilience — capturing the essence of a woman who knows exactly who she is and what she wants, no matter the obstacle,” Virgin Voyages said in its blog.<\/p>\n
The Resilient Lady is due to make its debut on Aug. 14 in Athens.<\/p>\n
