No stranger to breaking records, Royal Caribbean is pushing boundaries with its newest ship. Icon of the Seas will feature the largest waterpark at sea and the world’s first suspended infinity pool on a cruise ship.

Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas will have eight incredible neighbourhoods for passengers to explore.

At Thrill Island, holidaymakers can take a ride on Pressure Drop, the first open free-fall slide on a cruise ship or race each other on Storm Chasers.

Intrepid cruisers can experience thrills on Crown’s Edge, a skywalk and ropes course which will see guests swing 154 feet above the ocean.

At Chill Island, guests can unwind at Swim & Tonic, Royal Caribbean’s first swim-up bar, or take a dip in Royal Bay Pool, the industry’s largest swimming pool.

Surfside, a brand new Royal Caribbean neighbourhood, is designed for children under six with pools for the whole family.

Ben Bouldin, Vice President of EMEA at Royal Caribbean told Express.co.uk: “Each of these neighbourhoods encompasses its own identity.

“It’s all of Royal Caribbean’s greatest hits from the last 50 years, coupled with what we genuinely believe are going to be the next greatest hits in one incredible package, offering a truly iconic vacation.

“I’ve been blown away by the waterpark. It’s got seven incredible pools with the largest pool ever seen on a cruise ship. Seven pools, seven days on a cruise, perfect right?

“This ship shouts family. We’ve really tried to think about family at the centre of this ship.”

Guests will have 28 types of cabin to choose from on Icon of the Seas and the three-story Ultimate Family Townhouse even comes with its own white picket fence and mailbox.

Icon of the Seas will also feature accommodation designed for families of three, four, five and more, giving a lot of freedom to larger groups.

The ship will also be Royal Caribbean’s first to operate with fuel cell technology and LNG, currently the cleanest-burning marine fuel.

Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, said: “With each new ship, we raise the bar in the travel industry while enhancing what our guests know and love.

“From the moment they step on board, every experience is specifically designed to give them the best vacation anywhere on land and at sea.

“With Icon of the Seas, we’ve taken this to a new level and made the ultimate family vacation.”

Icon of the Seas will debut in January 2024 and will sail seven night Eastern and Western Caribbean vacations from Miami.

Every cruise will visit Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.

Royal Caribbean will soon debut the island’s adults-only oasis, Hideaway Beach, which will have private cabanas and unmatched ocean views.

Holidaymakers will also explore favourite Caribbean destinations including Cozumel in Mexico and Roatan in Honduras on Icon of the Seas.

Icon of the Seas will be available to book on Tuesday October 25 with Crown & Anchor loyalty members getting first access on October 24.
