Lindblad will name refitted Crystal yacht the National Geographic Islander II: Travel Weekly
Lindblad Expeditions said the superyacht acquired from Crystal Cruises will be called the National Geographic Islander II and make its debut in the Galapagos on Aug. 18.
The 48-guest, all-suite ship was named to honor the National Geographic Islander, which the new ship will replace in the Galapagos.
Formerly the Crystal Esprit, the National Geographic Islander II is undergoing a refit. Travelers will find encircling teak decks that connect indoor and outdoor spaces, an observation deck, indoor-outdoor dining options and expedition amenities such as a marina and Science Hub.
The marina will be equipped with kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, a custom-built glass bottom Zodiac and several Mark V Zodiacs. The Science Hub will be outfitted with an interactive video display, lab benches and seating.
Each of the 26 suites will feature large windows, convertible king/twin beds, sofa, marble double-sink bathrooms, stocked minibar, Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV and ample closet space.
The four Islander Suites will have four windows, separate living rooms, and bathrooms outfitted with a tub and rain shower. Connecting suites are available, plus four solo suites and triple options. The Santa Cruz Islander Suite can be reserved as a family suite with a connecting double suite.
The reimagined Cove lounge will be a gathering spot for cocktails and presentations. Guests will dine in the al fresco Patio Café and Yacht Club Restaurant.
The food-and-beverage program will highlight the four regions of Ecuador with locally sourced ingredients.
