U.K. corporate agency Gray Dawes makes first U.S. acquisition
U.K.-based travel management company Gray Dawes Travel has acquired Express Travel, a travel agency in Coral Gables, Fla.
The acquisition gives Gray Dawes a foothold in the U.S. When Gray Dawes launched U.S. operations in late February, the company hinted that a North America acquisition was imminent.
Express Travel’s joint managing partners, Olga Ramudo and Cristina Jacomino, will stay with the company for a minimum of three years, Ramudo said. Ramudo will become senior vice president and Jacomino director of luxury leisure sales.
“There are so many synergies across the businesses which makes this a very natural fit,” Jacomino said in a news release. “By being part of the Gray Dawes Group, we will be even stronger and able to deliver enhanced global opportunities to our staff and clients alike.”
Gray Dawes Group CEO Suzanne Horner said the acquisition will help lengthen the agency’s reach.
“Our clients increasingly want global solutions, even the smaller ones,” Horner said. “They’re taking us on the journey. We’ve been very successful picking up businesses in the U.K. and integrating them. We know how to do that well. Now we’re doing that overseas, earlier this year in Australia and now in America.”
