ExpressJet goes bankrupt; Aha! ceases operations: Travel Weekly
Aha!, the Reno, Nev.-based leisure airline established last October by ExpressJet has ceased operations.
In an Aug. 22 statement on the Aha! website, ExpressJet also said that it has entered into Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company won’t assist with alternative travel accommodations, and it advised customers who hold Aha! tickets to seek a refund through their credit card company.
“We regret that a combination of market and economic conditions lead us to take this action,” ExpressJet said.
ExpressJet, which previously had flown regional routes under the United Express brand, had designed Aha! as leisure airline geared toward offering value-priced vacation packages to Reno.
The carrier was operating its routes on a fleet of 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 aircraft.
In July Aha! flew nine routes, all from Reno, offering a total of 9,400 one-way seats, according to Cirium flight schedule data.
