Camping and caravan holidays: When to book ‘most in-demand’ accommodation for summer 2021
Holidays: Simon Calder gives 2021 travel advice
Staycations exploded in popularity last year amid travel bans and restrictions. With summer 2021 rapidly approaching, and little headway made in terms of relaxing travel. It seems thousands of Britons are eyeing camping and caravan holidays once again.
However, amid a surge in demand, it seems booking sooner rather than later is key for some specific types of accommodation.
According to experts from CoolCamping.com, certain types of staycation are selling out extremely quickly.
In its 2021 camping trends report, analysts found gone are the days of simply pitching a two-man tent for the weekend.
Instead, holidaymakers are keen to try out more unique camping styles; and as a result, spaces are filling fast.
“While the pandemic led to a rise in UK camping holidays last year, and staycations on the whole, we expect that level of demand to remain high into the summer of 2021,” explained a CoolCamping spokesperson.

“This means holidays can book up fast and Brits planning staycations this summer need to be plan ahead to book the most in-demand locations.”
According to the latest data, treehouses have taken the crown as the most in-demand accommodation type.
“We analysed the most popular camping trends on our site and, by measuring page views against overall availability, we have highlighted which camping holidays people need to book earliest for 2021,” continued the expert.
“Coming out as the top trend campers need to book now if they want to secure a spot for summer is treehouse accommodation.

“Staying in a treehouse property is a unique and luxury option which makes you feel in the heart of nature, and the demand for this incredible option far outweighs the availability.
“Based on our analysis we anticipate there are around 1,624 customers interested to every one treehouse available.”
Treehouses were closely followed by camping “pods” often fashioned by wood.
The CoolCamping expert pointed out there are “around 355 customers to every pod available and tipis with around 186 customers interested to every one pod.”
Other popular accommodations include tipis, yurts, shepherds huts, domes, safari tents and bell tents.
As a result, Britons who are eager to try out any of these specialist holiday homes may want to act fast.
The data also discovered which special “glamping” amenities were most sought after.
After what has been a stressful year for many, it seems a little relaxation goes a long way with hot tubs ranking as the most in-demand camping add on.
Dog-friendly campsites were also highlighted as a must-have for many.
“The most popular glamping choice is accommodation that includes a hot tub, highlighting that glampers do want that extra luxury from their trip,” said the expert.
“A whopping 46.56 percent of visits to glamping pages on our site was to properties that included a hot tub.
“With camping holidays having replaced many people’s international holidays these extra luxury touches are more important than ever and we expect this to remain true in 2021 as travellers again choose glamping over a holiday abroad.
“Additionally, almost five percent of glampers searched specifically for ‘dog-friendly’ glamping holidays, which was found to be one of the most popular glamping options.
