‘Exquisite’ seaside destination in Italy is a ‘haven of white sand beaches’
Every year, thousands of tourists travel to Venice to wander the canal city’s romantic streets or take a gondola ride.
But since the Italian city banned cruise ships from the centre, cruise ships often stop at Ravenna instead.
While most tourists head straight to Venice, Ravenna is a Mediterranean hidden gem they’re missing out on.
The travel experts at Iglu Cruise have said the Italian destination is one of the region’s best and most underrated hotspots.
A spokesperson said: “The beautiful city has some of the most exquisite coastlines in Italy. Marina di Ravenna, the oldest seaside resort on this part of the coast, is a haven of white sand beaches and some of the best seafood restaurants in the area.”

Ravenna is renowned for its vibrant mosaics which cover most of the Italian city’s key structures.
One of the city’s top attractions is the Basilica di Sant’Apollinare Nuovo which was built in the sixth century.
The incredible building has spectacular mosaics on the roof and is far quieter than similar sites in other Italian cities.

Ravenna Art Museum is housed in a 16th century monastery and is a cultural hub in the coastal city.
Basilica di San Vitale is one of the city’s UNESCO World Heritage sites and is its top-rated attraction on Tripadvisor.
Marina di Ravenna is one of the prettiest beaches in the area and has plenty of loungers for tourists to rent.
