‘Fantastic little gem’ is one of UK’s best seaside destinations

The staycation trend shows no sign of slowing down and during summer the seaside is top of many Britons’ bucket lists.

A gorgeous seaside destination has been ranked as one of the world’s best under the radar island hotspots.

The Isle of Portland is linked to the mainland by Chesil Beach and is the southernmost point in Dorset.

According to Home2Go who ranked the island fourth in the world, the hotspot is “particularly picturesque”.

A spokesperson said: “Holidaymakers can take in the sights on foot while following the Portland loop of the South West Coast Path.”

While the Isle has plenty of attractions apart from beaches, the area’s top-rated beach on Tripadvisor is Church Ope Cove.

‘Laura C’ who visited the beach wrote on the review platform: “Great little gem. A fantastic little find.

“It’s secluded so it’s fairly quiet and is great for a lovely view and some sunshine. It’s a pebble beach.”
