Tired of the volatile British weather? While there's a heatwave at the moment, we're often not this blessed.

But luckily, you can take a six hour flight for guaranteed constant blazing sunshine all year round.

Introducing Cape Verde, consisting of ten volcanic islands scattered across the central Atlantic Ocean off the coast of West Africa.

The most popular out of the ten islands is Cape Verde's Sal which commodities include an eight kilometre long beach.

Here, you have the opportunity to try out fun new watersports such as windsurfing or paddle boarding.

Or if you're feeling adventurous, you can embark on a once-in-a-lifetime whale-watching boat ride.

In December, where temperatures in the UK hit a high of 7 degrees, Cape Verde offers an average high of 24 degrees during the winter month.

Even mid-Autumn temperatures are high – in September the island has an average of 30 degrees.

Another island, Boa Vista, translates to 'beautiful views'.

It boasts stunning sugar-coloured sands a huge 55 kilometres of coastline and rustic stores that sell great local accessories such as mosaics and African-style ceramics.

São Vicente offers scenic views with mountainous volcanic backdrops.

The colourful island consists of bright buildings that glide up the mountains and the capital city of Mindelo offers a vibrant buzz and nightlife.

The islands also has a range of festivals which are an important pastime for the locals.

On the musical island of São Vicente, they hold two of the most prestige and colourful festivals – the São Vicente carnival and the Baia das Gatas festival which celebrates the August full moon.

The beautiful clear seas that surround the islands are inviting to visitors to take to the beach with a drink in hand ready to relax.

As a former Portuguese colony, Cape Verde has a huge range of different cultures.

Mixing influences such as Portuguese with African and Brazilian, it is guaranteed to be a culture-filled venture, from food to the the music.
