It can be irritating when you’ve carefully selected your seat on a plane and possibly even paid extra for it just for someone to demand you give it up.
Many airlines now let you pay an extra sum to choose your perfect seat whether that’s an aisle, window or extra legroom spot.
However, some holidaymakers don’t always obey the rules and can therefore cause a row.

One young woman spoke up on Reddit to ask if she was wrong for reacting to a young child who took her seat.
The 22-year-old said: “It’s an 8-9hour flight and I’m travelling alone. Leaving my family this time has been hard and I’ve been crying on and off the entire day.
“I had a window seat booked for my flight and I was looking forward to it. When I got there, a child was sitting in my seat and her dad in the middle seat.”
She decided to stand up for herself and ask the dad to move.
The woman explained: “I looked at the dad and pointed at the window seat saying that I think it’s my seat expecting him to move.
“He looked at me and said she’s a child and pointed at the aisle seat suggesting I take it. Perplexed I did.”
The traveller called her father to discuss the issue and he told her that the seat had been paid for specifically so she should try and take it again.
The woman noted: “I then told the girl's father this and he asked her to move. She started crying and I felt terrible but my dad told me to hold my ground.
“The girl moved and is sitting in the middle, I’m in my seat and I’m also sitting back so she can see out the window. Her dad has made one or two snide remarks about me wanting my seat.”
Feeling terrible about the incident, the young woman asked if she had been in the wrong for taking her seat back.
Hundreds of people responded to her question and offered up their opinions.
The top-rated commenter said: “You bought a seat to be able to use it, and the father in this situation knew that the seat he put his child in wasn’t theirs to use.
“If the father wanted their child to have a window seat, they should have selected one.”
Another added: “Kid could sit in the seat until the person who paid for it arrived, but I wouldn't mind if a parent asked for their kid to sit in my seat for takeoff.”
A third wrote: “I don’t agree that the father should have sat his daughter there without even asking, polite or not.
“I suppose he could have leaned over before takeoff and asked gently if she wouldn’t mind switching, but even then, that would be so awkward and uncomfortable.
“Awkward because it can be tough saying no to someone who is being polite, especially when a child is involved.”
Others explained that they had experienced the same thing but were too shy to argue back and take their seat.
Some said she wasn’t wrong as the man had tried to “intimidate” her instead of being “polite”.
