Passengers rage after man lights up cigarette on delayed flight causing chaos

Passengers travelling from Australia to Bali were fuming after a bloke lit up a cigarette on the already delayed flight, sparking further chaos.

The man started to smoke after boarding the plane which was overdue for its departure from Melbourne, forcing take-off to be pushed back even further after he decided to fill the aircraft up with smoke.

In the video, which has gained more than 39,000 views on TikTok, the bloke was seen being escorted off the Jetstar flight by police earlier this week.

For some unknown reason, he believed it was okay to light a smoke despite 'No smoking' signs being visible overhead.

The plane had already been stood idle on the tarmac in wait for take-off for over 4 hours.

His actions caused further delays to the flight which made many people unhappy as they turned to glare at the man as he was escorted off the aircraft.

Sinead Merrett wrote in the caption: "This guy thinks a delayed flight means he can light a dart on the plane. No Bali vacay for you now."

TikTok users were equally fuming for the people on board as they branded the bloke an 'tool' for his actions.

One user said: "Wow, what a tool."

Another added: "There's always one."

However, others seemed unbothered by the situation as they say they remember when it was allowed.

One user said: “Some of us old ex-smokers can remember when the whole back of the plane was a smokers area. Never bothered anyone.”

Another quipped: "Only on a flight to Bali aye.”

A third said: “When in flight to Bali why not light up.”

The flight landed at eventually landed Denpasar Airport at 12:51am local time on Wednesday, almost 13 hours after they had originally boarded.

A spokesperson for Jetstar said in a statement: "Smoking, vaping or the use of electronic cigarettes is not permitted on any Jetstar aircraft, in Australian airport terminals or on the tarmac."
