While Britain faces another cold snap, Russia’s temperatures remain sub-zero as we edge into the first days of spring.

However, this didn’t put off 27 brave young women who bared their bodies on the slopes to compete in a beauty contest.

These stunning skiers and snowboarders stripped to their underwear in the snow as part of the Miss Conqueror of the Peaks 2017 pageant.

The pageant was held on the slopes of the Uktus ski resort near the city of Yekaterinburg in central Russia's Sverdlovsk Oblast region.

The women, who travelled from all over Russia to be there, were participating in the final stage of the contest.

The contest began with 60 applicants and the 27 who participated in the final were voted the prettiest out of the initial entrants.

They were competing to win the title “Queen of the Peaks”.

Not only did the women have to be beautiful to compete, they also had to show off their skiing chops in a slalom race – where they had to dodge a number of obstacles.

Like any other beauty pageant, the contestants were also judged on their looks and personality.

The girls also took part in a fancy dress run on the slopes, with many braving the cold in just their bikinis.

"We did a photoshoot of all the finalists where the young women appeared in different styles,” one of the organisers, known only as Veronika said.

For the “talent” section, the girls could either sing a song, perform a dance, or stage a scene from The Queen of Spades, a short story by Russian writer Alexander Pushkin, or the fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood.

The winner of the pageant is yet to be named and will be decided after an online vote.

Once decided, the winner will become the face of two local ski resorts and the two runner-ups will get a yearly pass for the Uktus ski resort.
