Top 10 pumpkin patches to visit this autumn for ‘the perfect family day out’

As we head towards Halloween, families are looking for wholesome days out to celebrate the spooky season – and there are few better ways of doing so than by pumpkin picking.

But it’s not always obvious where to go for this seasonal activity.

New research from Outdoor Toys has solved that very issue, by analysing entry prices, location, social media popularity and Google data to let you know about the very best pumpkin patches to visit this autumn.

The research found that Doddington Hall, in Lincolnshire, ranked as the best pumpkin patch to visit, with both adults and children able to take advantage of free entry and only needing to pay for the pumpkins they pick.

The Elizabethan site has also proved hugely popular online, with a total of 110,400 views on TikTok and an impressive 188,900 annual searches in the last year, making it the place to be for sharing your pumpkin picking to social media.

Tulleys Farm in West Sussex, meanwhile – which ranks second on the list for best pumpkin picking destinations – achieved an even more staggering 14.7 million views on TikTok, and 19,000 Instagram mentions.

Entry for the fourth-generation family farm starts at £5 for both adults and children.

Elsewhere in the research, there were four other pumpkin sites along with Doddington Hall where it’s free entry, including Yarmouth’s Tapnell Farm Park, Swansea’s Gower Fresh Christmas Trees, and two Scottish sites: Charleton Fruit Farm in Montrose, and Broadslap Fruit Farm in Perth.
