Top Valentine’s Day UK stays for dirty weekends, getting cosy and big proposals

This year, Valentine’s Day falls rather awkwardly on a Monday meaning that it might be tricky to celebrate the most romantic day fo the year.

But, if you’re serious about treating your loved one then you might choose to book a few days of work and take them on a cheeky trip away for some much needed quality time.

Alternatively you could celebrate the weekend of Valentine’s week (that’s next weekend)!

There are hundreds of hotels and Airbnb’s in the UK to choose from for a romantic long weekend meaning you might feel overwhelmed when it comes to choosing the right one to book.

Especially, as we all have different reasons for going away – whether you’re after a sizzling dirty weekend away or the perfect plate to propose.

We’ve selected some of our favourite UK spots to help you make the best decision for you and your partner. Check them out below…

1. The dirty weekend

TheBrighton Erotic Boudoir– also known as the Brighton Dungeon – is a state-of-the-art kinky space that provides the ultimate dirty weekend experience with five playrooms to choose from.

Rooms include: The punishment playroom, interrogation cell, medical fantasy room, wet room and luxury boudoir bedroom.

There’s a variety of whips, chains, mirrors and sexy furniture to play with…

The Brighton Dungeon website states: “Whether you want to play sexy nurse games, or pretend you have been captured by a crazy scientist who is about to perform experiments on you, this room has all the tricks and teases you could ever need.

“So, get ready to scrub up, dress up and explore all this room has to offer.”

Two hours of play will set you back £80, five hours costs £180 while an overnight stay costs £295 on Saturdays or £165 on Sundays; brightondungeon.com.

2. The cosy cabin for two

Not everyone is after glitz and glamour on Valentine’s Day – some people prefer to get away from it all and spend quality time together.

And, where better to do so than in a quiet, countryside shepherd’s hut that you’ll have all to yourself alongside a BBQ pit for nights under the stars and an outdoor Swedish hot tub that you can lounge in while looking over the fields.

Little Poro, in Devon, is heaven for a couple who can’t get enough of one another and you can even press your own juice in the Cider House.

Canopy and Stars states: “Little Poro’s blend of Scandinavia and Devon makes it perfect at any time of year.

“Whether you’re dashing back from the hot tub to get under the blankets on a chilly winter night or exploring Exmoor and pressing cider in long summer afternoons, it really is like a dream come true.”

Theres a working kitchen, wood fire, King size bed and mini library and rates start from £145 per night; canopyandstars.co.uk.

3. Treat them like royalty

While the countryside is the place to be for many, some prefer their rural stay to be in high style.

And Glengorm Castle is the perfect place to take a partner who deserves to be treated like a King or Queen.

This Scottish residence, on the Isle of Mull, looks like a palace taken straight from a fairy tale with soaring turrets, flags and rolling green hills.

And, it’s located just four miles from the island’s capital Tobermory – a stunning harbour town filled with local shops and glittering sea views.

You can stay in a single room with the Bed & Breakfast option, costing from £165 per night, or rent out a serviced apartment in the castle, from £550 per week; glengormcastle.co.uk.

4. The luxe city stay

Some people prefer the bustling glitter and sounds of the big city – and we’ve found one of the top London spots for those with luxurious taste.

Take your lover to L’oscar in Covent Garden and they’ll be bowled away by the opulence, style and cracking central Location.

L’oscar has been voted one of the best British hotels in multiple awards ceremonies and we’re not surprised thanks to the sophisticated interiors.

The Letters of Horace Walpole (an admired British writer) are stacked on the shelves while purple, velvet pouffes and accents invite you to sit down and there are mirrored ceilings, tassels, turquoise screens, hummingbird lamps and hundreds of other little jazz-age style touches.

So grab your glam-loving partner, head out for a night in the Big Smoke and come back to L’oscar for a truly sensual stay.

There is currently a J’Adore L’oscar package with breakfast for two, room upgrade, early check in and late check out, a bottle of Veuve Cliquot Champagne and a £50 food voucher costing £441 per night for most dates in February; loscarlondon.com.

5. The posh proposal

If you’re looking to pop the big question you might be feeling nervous about how to ask – especially if your partner is all about big gestures!

Luckily, the folks down at Berwick Lodge, a five-star hotel set in 18 acres of woodland and gardens just outside Bristol, offers proposal packages to please almost anyone.

For £999 you’ll get the help of a proposal coordinator, use of Aphrodite’s Dome, Champagne, a photographer, a six course tasting meal, Deluxe suite including breakfast and even a gift to take home with you.

Alternatively, you can rent a room and ask your partner in the stunning grounds or by the intimate fireplace in the lounge.

The website states: “Like the idea of an outdoor proposal? Take a wander under the beautiful arches of our wisteria lined walkway to the privacy of Aphrodite’s Dome – our magnificent gazebo, named after the Goddess of Love.

“This private spot within the wild flower meadow will be lit with candles and softened with blankets, for you to get down on one knee and ask the all-important question.”

Rates for Berwick Lodge’s Boutique rooms start from around £100; berwicklodge.co.uk.

6. The private proposal

Not into anything too expensive or showy? Why not head to Edgecliff Boutique B&B in Kent where the master suite boats incredible panoramic sea views where you can sit and watch the sun come up or go down.

And, what better way to privately ask someone the big question than in front of a glowing, golden sunset sparkling off the ocean?

One review of Edgecliff stated: “The master suite was awe inspiring, we felt like movie stars.”

“The room and house is absolutely stunning,” added another. “The views are incredible which make for the most amazing sunrises and sunsets.”

Rates for the master suite start from £195 per night; Airbnb.co.uk.
