Travelodge has a huge sale with rooms from £8.75pp right by Christmas markets

Brits looking to get into the festive mood can book to stay near a Christmas market from just £8.75 per person thanks to Travelodge.

The magical smell of mulled wine is set to fill the air as markets from Manchester to Birmingham prepare to open from November.

Those who don’t live close by – or who want to get stuck into the bierkeller and bars – will need to book a room to make the most of the festive events.

Now the budget hotel chain has made this much cheaper for Brits who might be worried about the cost of living with 450,000 cheap rooms.

The hotel group is offering rooms from just £34.99 that are large enough for a family of four – working out at just £8.75pp for a family sharing a room.

The best part is that the deal is valid across its 580 UK hotels, many of which are close to the best Christmas markets on offer.

For example, you could take a trip to Chester which is set in an enchanting Victorian Gothic Town Hall, or head to Lincoln’s market just outside the beautiful 11th century Cathedral – it boasts 280 stalls and cobbled streets.

Big cities are also in on the action with Manchester Christmas Market found to be the top choice in the nation.

For 40 days, the market will open with 220 stalls filled with sweets, drinks, gifts and decorations.

There’s a magical light trail in the city and an ice rink around a giant Christmas tree.

You can even dine on pancakes, churros, Korean hotdogs and festive tipples and there’s even Nordic tipi bar for over 18s.

Meanwhile, in Nottingham you can get stuck into the ice rink at the Old Market Square or don a coat and gloves to drink in the ice bar.

Cardiff’s Christmas Market will be sure to dazzle and delight you with trinkets and treasures like glass work, handmade quilts, traditional pewter gists and original artwork, while in Winchester you’ll feel like you’re transported to Germany with tempting seasonal treats and 112 chalet stalls.

In Edinburgh kids can check out Santa Land with plenty of fun attractions – and a chance to meet Father Christmas himself of course.

The holiday residence is located in the East Princes Street Garden and it is full of rides and entertainment for the whole family including a Christmas Tree Maze.

The sale is already live on the Travelodge website with prices from £34.99.

Plus, if you don’t eat your fill at the markets some 200 Travelodge hotels now feature an on-site restaurant called The Bar Cafe.

They serve breakfast, dinner and drinks from just £8.99 and two children under 15 for every paying guests can eat for free.
