UK beach with golden sands and on-beach parking has been named England’s best

Mablethorpe beach in Lincolnshire, known for its golden sands, donkey rides, local chip shops and fairground, has been named one of the best in England.

The beautiful seaside holiday resort recently won a Blue Flag Award from the charity, Keep Britain Tidy, according to GrimsbyLive.

The popular beach destination won the prized status alongside close neighbours Sutton on Sea and Skegness.

Earlier this year, Mablethorphe alongside Sutton on Sea and Skegness, were announced as the three winners in the East Midlands category of a Blue Flag Award for safety and services, environmental information, water quality and environmental management.

The Blue Flag Award is one of the world’s most recognised voluntary awards for beaches, marinas and tourism boats.

In the UK, there are 77 Blue Flag beaches in England and one marina, according to Keep Britain Tidy.

Car rental company, SIXT, described Mablethorpe beach as “picturesque” with “miles of golden sand”.

SIXT judged the seaside resorts according to visitors’ reactions on Tripadvisor, data on the number of cafes available, the quality of the beach and nearby toilet facilities.

Tripadvisor user Charlurr said the beach was “stunning”. They posted on the site: “We recently had a wee getaway with the little ‘un and this beach is stunning!

“A proper sandy beach with loads of sea shells to collect. There were also little estuaries leading to the sea which were perfect for the little ‘un to play in!”

Another Tripadvisor user, lynnette5, said the beach was “beautiful” and had a “great cafe on the front” which served breakfasts and other items.

The town itself doesn’t have a lot of parking for seaside visitors, however, some visitors didn’t experience this.

Tripadvisor user Michael B said on the site: “On arrival, good on-beach parking. The beach itself was long and golden [and] in perfect condition, clean no rubbish around.

“Places to eat drink by the sea, amusements, rides and a small park with water play areas.

“The town itself was clean tidy and busy. The council must appreciate what they are doing as the place was very well-kept.”
