“So, it is of little wonder that the Lake District was revealed as the most popular winter beauty spot with 295.2 million TikTok views, and a rise of 5,000 percent in Google searches for Lake District cottages.
“By day, you can pick from plenty of festive activities including winter hikes, strolling around the area’s winter markets, or indulging in local delicacies at a charming country pub.
“Once the winter skies begin to draw dark, cosy up with loved ones by the fire in a woodland lodge in Keswick, or a snug cottage with scenic views overlooking Lake Windermere.”
It might be chilly outside but tourists are still in with a chance of spotting some of the Lake District’s unique wildlife.
The breeding season for red deer might have finished, but visitors can still keep an eye out for the magnificent creatures roaming the park.
Red squirrels don’t hibernate so tourists have a chance of spotting the mischievous rodents during the winter months.
While many tourists flock to Cornwall during the summer, the pretty town of St Ives has plenty of festive magic to offer.
Holidaycottages experts said: “Whilst you might associate St Ives with sunny surf-ready shores, the Cornish town really comes alive at Christmas, making it the perfect winter beauty spot for those looking for a holiday hideaway.
“The town’s Christmas market opens on December 2, so you can sneak in some last-minute Christmas shopping, and for those adrenaline chasers staying over the festive period, there is even a Boxing Day dip in the sea you can brave!”
After a chilly day exploring the Cornish coastline, tourists could pick up some fish and chips to enjoy at their holiday home.
The Cotswolds took third place and were chosen as the “picture-perfect showcase” for the Great British outdoors.
The team said: “Over the festive period, the Cotswolds becomes a magical frosty paradise, dissected with villages draped in twinkling lights.
“Take the whole family sledging at one of the local parks or enjoy a bracing walk with your pooch, followed by a well-deserved pint in one of the cosiest UK spots.”
Glencoe was Scotland’s most festive destination while Pembrokeshire was Wales’s best winter hotspot.
