Wyndham fills luxury gap with new hotel collection
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has added a new luxury soft brand to its stable with the launch of Registry Collection Hotels.
Wyndham president and CEO Geoff Ballotti said that the brand “fills an important space at the upper end of the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts portfolio.”
Although Registry Collection Hotels is a separate entity from The Registry Collection, a portfolio of 200-plus high-end timeshare properties that operates as part of Wyndham partner Travel + Leisure Co., the two concepts share branding synergy, according to Ballotti. (Formerly known as Wyndham Destinations, Travel + Leisure Co. was spun off from Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in 2018.)
“Independent luxury hotel owners around the world have approached our development teams seeking sales, marketing and reservations support under a proven and established luxury brand,” said Ballotti. “The creation of Registry Collection Hotels was a natural fit, given Registry’s growing global recognition as the world’s largest luxury exchange program.”
The first property to join the collection is the 144-room Grand Residences Riviera Cancun near Puerto Morelos, Mexico. Opened in 2013, the all-suite resort has an oceanfront infinity pool, a full-service spa and gym, a kids club, three restaurants and complimentary private airport transportation. The resort is owned and managed by affiliates of Royal Resorts.
The Grand Residences Riviera Cancun is now available for booking via the new Registry Collection Hotels platform.
Registry Collection Hotels is Wyndham’s 21st brand and the company’s second soft brand, joining Trademark Collection by Wyndham. Launched in 2017, the Trademark Collection currently has more than 110 independent upper-midscale and upscale hotels across North America, Europe, Australia and the Caribbean.
