Royal Caribbean's second Icon-class ship will be Star of the Seas

Royal Caribbean International’s second Icon-class ship will be named the Star of the Seas and is scheduled to debut in the summer of 2025.

The Star is the sister ship of the 5,610-passenger Icon of the Seas, a first-of-its-class vessel taking inspiration from the line’s Perfect Day at CocoCay private island. Royal Caribbean is promoting the ship as the ultimate family vacation. The Icon has new neighborhoods, a half-dozen waterslides, a three-level Ultimate Family Townhouse with an in-suite slide, and reimagined ship interiors.

The 250,800-gross ton Icon will become the world’s largest cruise ship when it debuts in January 2024. Royal was short on details about the Star, including whether it will be larger than the Icon.

The Star is under construction in Turku, Finland, and will be the third in Royal Caribbean’s fleet powered by liquefied natural gas.
