Maui's Kula Lodge & Restaurant under new ownership

Upcountry Maui’s popular Kula Lodge & Restaurant and Kula Marketplace are under new ownership as of Oct. 31. Simon Vojdani, who owns 5 Palms Restaurant, is the new owner and manager of the Kula Lodge and has many things planned.

“Simon has long been an icon in the restaurant industry, having owned/operated over 95 fine dining restaurants throughout the country since 1969,” 5 Palms said in a press release. “In 1995, he and his family planted roots here on Maui with the opening of 5 Palms Restaurant, which became one of the longest-operating restaurants on the south side and was best known for its fresh seafood, Hawaiian hospitality and killer views.”

The lodge was previously owned by the late Fred Romanchak since 1984. “We are honored to be the ones to carry Fred’s torch,” said Simon’s daughter, Stephanie Vojdani, in the press release. She will be helping with operations.

New to the Kula Lodge will be dinner, happy hour, a sushi bar and brunch. The new owner also wants to add a pool, fire pit and viewing deck. There will also be more opportunity for weddings and events.
