Tourists flock to UK beach ‘like Caribbean’ with white sands and waterfalls

Despite being an island surrounded by dozens of bays and summer hotspots the UK isn’t well known for its beaches. It’s a shame because there are a number of awe-inspiring beaches that are great to visit during summer.

There are pebble beaches and those with golden sand as well as nudist destinations, family friendly seaside towns and quiet swimming bays. But, what most people assume Britain lacks is the type of beach you’d spot in the Caribbean or Maldives.

Those who believe we don’t have such beaches filled with crystal clear blue water, white sand and impressive rock formations would be wrong. All you have to do is head down into the West Country.

In a video that got hundreds of views on TikTok, @ventureuk called the beach the “most insane beach in the UK”. It showed off the waterfall, “huge cave”, white sands and blue water of Nanjizal Beach in Cornwall.

It also appeared quiet as just a few dog walkers enjoyed the sunshine. In another clip, the TikTok page showed off its top five UK beaches with Nanjizal Beach being its number one.

Dozens of people replied, with one writing: "The water for the last one just so clear". Another said: "Nanjizal disappeared completely at one point. It was a hidden gem for the locals.."

And to add to the location's charm, it's also a great place for wildlife, with seals often being spotted in the water. Dolphins have also been spotted swimming out at sea.

Reviewers on Tripadvisor also raved about the spot gave it an impressive 4.5 stars, reports GloucestershireLive. One person said: "I visited at high tide, the waves rolled and crashed against the rocky beach and cliff faces. The walk to get there was just glorious, hard going but the views are incredible."

Another wrote: "Absolutely stunning cove beach. About 45 minutes walk from Lands End along stunning cliff scenes. Wear comfortable footwear, have some drinks and snacks. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of an unspoiled small beach with a cave and enjoy chilling."

A third added: "Lovely spot. Tucked away so a bit of a walk to get to but worth it. Some seals playing in the cove as well. Worth spending some time getting to."

One reviewer said the beach was "wild, remote and stunning". Another said the ocean view was "breathtaking".

Plus, if you drive to the beach you can park nearby for £7 all day. Grab a picnic and make a day of it!

Nanjizal Beach isn’t the only UK hotspot the TikTok page praised. They said they headed to Pedn Vounder in Cornwall on summer road trips.

In the clip the water was a rich turquoise and the beach sand bright white with a far view out to sea. On TripAdvisor one woman said: “This is a very beautiful beach, stunning weather worn cliffs form a grand backdrop to Crystal clear water. Swimming is fantastic, cold crisp, beware of the strong currents here though.”

Another added: “Absolutely amazing beach with turquoise sea. You could be mistaken to think you were in the Caribbean.”

However, you should take note when visiting Pedn Vounder – it is also welcoming to nudists. So be aware you might see some naked visitors!

Always be aware of the tide times when visiting the beach, be aware of riptides and ensure you visit a beach with lifeguards if you are not a strong swimmer.
