UK coastal location named as the ‘sunniest place in the UK’

Many Britons will be jetting off abroad this summer but for others, stay-at-home holidays are the best option.

Staycations became popular during the pandemic as international travel was made nearly impossible. 

But post pandemic many holidaymakers still opt for this kind of vacation as it can be more cost-effective and less hassle.

With summer 2023 promising great weather across the UK, a staycation could be Britons’ ticket to a fab holiday.

Weather2Travel shared the sunniest places in the UK to visit, perfect for your next break this season.

Eastbourne is the sunniest place in the UK, with an average of eight hours of sunshine a day in June.

The sunniest month is usually June because there are more hours of daylight in June than any other month.

While you might have missed a June stay in Eastbourne, July and August also promises sun-filled scenes.

In July there are seven hours of sunshine, with an average maximum daytime temperature of 20°C, and the same can be said for August.

TripAdvisor is filled with glowing reviews about the seaside town, with praise for attractions such as Beachy Head, Sovereign Harbour Marina and Towner Art Gallery, among others.

Speaking about Beachy Head, Eastbourne fan Brian T called it a “stunningly beautiful spot!”.

Stuart H added that Sovereign Harbour Marina boasts “wonderful water-side walks” with free parking close by.

He continued: “The Marina offers endless possibilities for waterside walks both long and short and the actual seafront is close by too.”

Time Out also named Eastbourne as the best place to visit in 2023, well on its way to becoming an “established hub for creatives” in addition to beautiful views.
