UK’s coolest neighbourhood named – full list

Looking for an autumn city break? Don’t panic, as Time Out has just released its hotlist ranking the world’s coolest neighbourhoods.

From hipster cafes to nighttime bike rides, the expert travel team selected spots known for food, fun, culture and community. While Laureles in Colombia grabbed the top spot, one UK neighbourhood landed just outside the top 10.

Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle is officially the UK’s coolest neighbourhood. Just a stone’s throw from the city’s Albert Dock, the Baltic Triangle is one of the country’s most exciting spots.

Alice Porter, a Time Out contributor, said: “15 years ago, what is now known as the Baltic Triangle was nothing more than a collection of largely abandoned shipping warehouses.

“But thanks to a huge regeneration project, they’re now populated by some of the best restaurateurs, artists and creatives in the city. Skateparks, independent coffee shops and small galleries occupy the space between street art-adorned warehouses.

“There’s also a budding food scene in the area, including the newly-opened Manifest, which has already been given the nod from Michelin.”

The Baltic Triangle is home to some of Liverpool’s most iconic street art including the Jurgen Klopp mural and the Liver Birds Mural.

The Botanical Garden, a venue focused on gin, is tucked away in the heart of the warehouse district and one of the city’s best places to drink.
